Access to view reports in Report Manager
Hi, As Faisal Suggested create one use in SQL Server, here is step by step article. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337562.aspx Give only limited/read-only permission to this user. Now in report, use this user to fetch data. You can use same account for those use to whom you do not want to give permission in database.Regards, Asim Bagwan Kindly mark the replies as Answers if they help!

Is there any other way to create an account for the users but not from SSMS?.Because if we create in SSMS they will get the database access right?.I couldn't see the read only permissions in SQL Server...I heard we can use an active directory with group of users and use that group in the report manager and asisgn the role. Does anyone know about this procedure?...Please assist. Thanks

As I have been saying over and over again, read a good book or at least go through the links I posted above. You case use an AD user/group in Report Manager, but that account should have access to the data used by the report. How do you expect users to read from data to which you don't want them to have access? Think about it.

Setting Permissions in Reporting Services - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337491.aspx There are a couple of different ways you can setup your data source. Data source properties - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms190041.aspx I suggest you go through a book to have a better understanding - http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Server-2008-Reporting-Services/dp/0071548084/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322453748&sr=8-1 Hope this helps!

You don't have to give database access to users. You can create a "Report" account with appropriate access and specify that in the Data Source used by the report. Go through the second link I posted above. As I said, go through a good book to get a good understanding and it's worth all the time/money you'll spend.
