Access Problem for Remote DB
I did a lot of research but failed resolving the problem. I have two servers: The DB (SQL Server 2008) and the SCCM 2007 R2. The whole installation and configuration worked seemlessly but now I have the following error in the SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER log: SMS Site Component Manager could not access site system "\\databaseserver". The operating system reported error 2147942405: Access is denied. Possible cause: The site system is turned off, not connected to the network, or not functioning properly. Solution: Verify that the site system is turned on, connected to the network, and functioning properly. Possible cause: SMS Site Component Manager does not have sufficient access rights to connect to the site system. Solution: Verify that the Site Server's computer$ account has administrator rights on the remote site system. Possible cause: Network problems are preventing SMS Site Component Manager from connecting to the site system. Solution: Investigate and correct any problems on your network. Possible cause: You took the site system out of service and do not intend on using it as a site system any more. Solution: Remove this site system from the list of site systems for this site. The list appears in the Site Systems node of the Administrator console. Yes, the SCCM machine is part of the Local Admins of the DB and all the roles in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680513.aspx exist on the SQL Server. What I do not understand (and this might be linked) is that I see the database server in the "Syte Systems" with three roles: ConfigMgr site database server (this I understand) ConfigMgr site system(why?) ConfigMgr component server (why?) the database server is really just a database server. Any idea how I can get rid of this problem? I do not dare to delete the roles for my db server... Thank you Roger

ConfigMgr site database server (this I understand) ConfigMgr site system(why?) ConfigMgr component server (why?) The above roles are completely normal for the DB server; there is no way to change this as all systems that hold any site role get the second two. How is it part of the local admins? Directly or via a group membership? Have you verified the SPN? Is the server account a sysadm in SQL Server also? Just because it is a local admin in th OS does not mean it is a sysadm in SQL Server.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

This seems to have done it (at least it looks like it). Obviously I overread this part :( Thank you Roger
