A certificate validation operation took xxxx milliseconds and has exceeded the execution time threshold. Event 8321

Dear all,

In my test environment (a VM running win2008, SQL2008, sp2013) the event log keep showing titled critical error message every 2-3 minutes. I didn't install any certificate nor do I need it.

I searched for the error message in this forum and on the web. Most suggested answer is telling how to install the certificate chain properly but I don't need any SSL at all.

Can I stop the certificate validation as I don't need it? Thanks.

Mark

There are various certificate checks that SharePoint performs itself.

The simplest fix is to give your test environment internet access.

I have seen these caused by misconfigured search scopes before but we never got to the bottom of why exactly they resulted in those errors.

I searched for this topic and asking around some experienced Sharepoint admin, all saying that it is a black box by Microsoft.

I am start worrying because our system budget do not include certificate server. Also I don't know how to tell my boss why we need it.... =(
