AD redesign

 HI,

Am deciding  to redesign my current AD infrastructure.Current I have Head office the two Branches are connected with site to site VPN.

Headoffice i have parent domain e.g abc.com and in branches we have two child s domain i.e city1.abc.com and city.abc.com.

Number of users in each branch are 20................30.

I want remove my both child domains  and make all users to the part of Headoffice domain.

For DNS traffic i decide to deploy cache only DNS server in branches in order to avoid unnecessary DNS traffic from VPN link.

Please guide me removing the childs domains and making all users to the part of one domain is a right decision or not??

Since you don't have must complex environment ( only few users ), you don't need 3 domain ( root and 2 child ), you can use OU to define some policies if want for each.  place additional DC's on Branches.  use ADMT tool to move users from child to root. if you have applications Server (Exchange, etc.) on child DC, you should move them too
