ADAM not authenticating users
Hi all. I posted earlier regarding an ADAM syncing issue and have that all wrapped up. My ADAM users are now being properly imported into SharePoint, I can select them via the peoplepicker, add them to sites, etc. Everything works very well, except when I try to access my site externally. I have had this environment setup and working before. I am using forms based authentication, and have ADAM running on a Windows 2k3 x64 box. SharePoint is running on a 2k8, x64 box. When I hit my portal, I am seeing the forms page, however when I attempt to authenticate, I receive: "The server could not sign you in. Make sure your user name and password are correct, and then try again." Despite the user being in ADAM and SharePoint, with valid credentials. I have opened up numerous ports, checked settings in my web.config, etc. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks all.

Hi trevorhough, There some things that would help in finding a solution to the issue you are facing. What provider are you using, the LDAPMembershipProvider or the ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider? Are you using SSL? When you re-enabled FBA did you use the same membership provider name? What version is your SharePoint build at? Do you get an Event ID of 4006 on the SharePoint server? If it is not at least Service Pack 2, this would be my first recommendation.Chad Schultz -MSFT This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
