Hello, It sounds like you may be having issues with your proxy server or the Group Policy was not applied properly. Here are two threads which disscussed a same issue: Client "Not yet contacted" - proxy problems? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcenter/thread/78be3a93-485e-41d2-9d24-c941ef1b9609 Client not updating (Unknown status) http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcenter/thread/efdc9be0-4595-4358-bccd-72c43ea2926b Please follow the steps in the threads above to locate the root cause and resolve it. I followed Your steps above, but it doesn't help. The current problems occur after the resent reinstallation of SCE-server, that was initiated by at domain rename... Just after the installation of SCE-server, I tried to use the Console to connect to the server, but the console tried to connect to an ancient SCE-server instance - this server is now working as backup-DC, but was previously used as SCE-server. The SCE-server has been completely removed from this server along with all GPO's before installation of SCE-server on the new server. I have checked the GPO's and can't find any, that points to the old server! To summarize: Long time ago: ancientserver.olddomainname had a working SCE-instance Before domain rename: newserver.olddomainname had a working SCE-instance After domain rename: newserver.newdomainname has no working SCE-instance and newly installed console points to ancientserver.olddomainname Can this in any way has a responsibility for the malfunction?

I must add: I now "only" get the {B5F013F3-6776-454A-80A9-E40620DA17A3} 2010-07-08 01:30:14:106+0200 1 148 101 {D67661EB-2423-451D-BF5D-13199E37DF28} 1 800710dd SelfUpdate Failure Software Synchronization Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x800710dd error. I have tried to reinstall the SCE-server. I have tried to edit the IIS settings to make anonymous logon possible, which doesn't help. I've run out of things to try...

Hello trucjensen, It is not supported to change domain name after SCE installation. In the scenario, you need to uninstall Essentials and re-install it after the domain rename procedure. If you have problems with WSUS after the reinstallation, please read the following threads for steps to repair it. No inventory after a domain rename and an SCE uninstall/reinstall http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcenterinventory/thread/14cf81ed-0cb0-4d88-b0f5-a9f2d5cd7605/ SCE/SCOM 2007 and renaming the domain http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/systemcenter/thread/fdb8426f-0e9c-4ee8-a1fb-514277d718fe/ Thanks,Yog Li -- Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Yog Li. As I have stated since the start of the thread, my issues have occured since the reinstallation of SCE. I have tried to follow the links You have provided, but the problem is still there. The Virtual directory Selfupdate is there, but I still get a "Windows Update Client failed to detect with error 0x800710dd"-error in the clients. To summarize the events (2-4 has been tried more than once): The server was reinstalled and was made a DC again. I reinstalled SCE I have scanned the network, discovered the clients and installed the agent remotely. I received the error. Yours Michael

Sorry for all the Mark/Unmark as answer. I was writing a comment and the site went down... The Updates work now. I did a "gpupdate /force" and a reboot, and this did the job apparently. It's not that I havn't tried that before, but this time it worked... Thanks
