.xls-file opens in browser instead of excel 2007
Hello,a user in our company can't open excel-files on the SharePoint 2007 in Excel 2007 on his PC anymore. If he clicks on it, the file opens directly in the browser (Internet Explorer 8 64 bit). The problem doesn't occur if another user logs onto the domain on the same PC. It also doesn't occur if the respective user uses another PC.The PC is running on Windows 7 64 bit. Which settings do I have to change so that the user can edit his files in Excel again?Thank you in advance for your responses,Tino

I've seen this before. The change seems to be that you've added "on the SharePoint 2007" to it.This makes it rather confusing. I assume you mean that an Excel file is stored in a SP 2007 Document Library and that when you select the file in the Document Library listing it will not open in Excel 2007.As such it is not an Excel Services question but is a question about Excel files stored in Doc Libs and so I'm moving it to the SharePoint - Admin forum.Comment if my description of yyour problem is wrong.(Moderator)FAQ sites: (SP 2010) http://wssv4faq.mindsharp.com; (v3)http://wssv3faq.mindsharp.com and (WSS 2.0)http://wssv2faq.mindsharp.comComplete Book Lists (incl. foreign language) on each site.

This can even happen if any addon has been installed by the user. I Would suggest to run Internet explorer with the no addon switch and check if the excel file still opens in IE or not. To start Internet Explorer with No Addons > Go to RUN and Type iexplore.exe -extoff Also try the steps mentioned in the article mentioned by Stanfford, let us know how it goes. -Mukesh
