"Drag and Drop Files Here" is visible, but doesn't work

Hello all,

I have just installed SharePoint 2013 and am working to manually migrate a bunch of files (PDFs and Docs) from the file system to the soon-to-be SharePoint intranet.

I am working directly on the server right now as I am creating a test site and no DNS name is yet pointing to it (just the server hosts file).

"Drag and Drop files here" is visible in the document libraries, but when I try to do so, I get the slash/circle "no" symbol and it doesn't work.

I'm using IE 11. No office products are installed on the server and I can't put them there.

It would be great to be able to do this, as I'll be uploading hundreds of files and Explorer View and Multiple File uploads also aren't working.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has any insight. Thanks!

Shae

Hi,

From your description, "Drag and Drop Files Here" isn't working in SharePoint 2013 and Explorer View isn't working too.

I have done a test in my SharePoint 2013, and I wasn't met the issue.

Here are the possible causes and solutions:

I can user IE 11 to upload the documents using drag&drop control. To narrow down this issue, please try this on another computer IE 11, and try other browser like chrome, IE10 to check whether the same scenario happens.

Check whether You have not enable "Client Integration" in SharePoint

Check the path of the folder in which you are trying to upload. It should not exceed the 256 character limit.

Check whether the issue exists in other document libraries.

Here is a similar issue post, you can take a look at:

The following article covers almost all solutions about Explorer View issue, you can take a look at:
